Creating a Strategy - The Right Mix of IT and CRMArmed Forces Division ChallengeWhen the DoD and DHS need to leverage IT strategy to reach out to the troops, to whom do they turn? A division of the Armed Forces established an advanced information technology support program to support two critical applications: The Reserve Component Automation Systems (RCAS) and the Distributed Training Technology Program (DTTP). Customer Value Partners (CVP) teamed with SRA International to provide technology analysis, CRM design, and vendor management and evaluation. Approach and ResultsCVP consultants produced a variety of studies and analyses for the customer under this program. Using a "Voice-of-the-Soldier" approach we developed a five year Strategic Evolution Plan (SEP) which surveyed the current and future IT needs for mobilizing and training troops and reservists and developed a series of project initiatives, which were prioritized using Project Portfolio Management principles. We subsequently developed a Technology Refresh Plan (TRP) which examined the highest priority initiatives and developed program initiative plans and vendor analyses for the budgeting process. CVP consultants also conducted cost benefit analyses for consolidating help desk operations across multiple locations. Finally, the CVP team developed a network consolidation study for multiple disparate secure networks, integrated through Active Directory. |
